How to Join the Southfield Public Schools Community?
There are several ways to become a part of the Southfield Public Schools community:
- District Residency
- Schools of Choice
- Children of Southfield Public School District Employees
Non-residents should contact the pupil registration office at 248-746-7607 to see if they are eligible to enroll in Southfield Public Schools.
The laws of Michigan state that a child's residence for educational purposes is with his/her parent/legal guardian.
Parent/Legal Guardian MUST provide the following Required Enrollment Documents:
A. Proof of Residency of Students K-12
- House Closing Papers or Mortgage Documents
- Apartment or House Rental Lease
AND - Two (2) Current Utility Bills (within 30 days) or Connection Notices
B. Kindergarten Students
- Original Birth Certificate or Green Card/Passport
- Court Ordered Guardianship Documents (if applicable)
- Current Immunization Records
- Vision Screening
C. Students Grade 1-12
- Current Immunization Records
- Birth Certificate or Green Card/Passport
- Court Ordered Documents (if applicable)
- Latest Report Card / Unofficial Transcript
- Disciplinary Behavior Report
- Current IEP/MET (for students receiving special education services)
School of Choice For 23/24 School Year:
Kindergarten – 3rd Grade (Wayne County)
The Southfield Public Schools Board of Education has approved unlimited Schools of Choice (Section 105c) openings in kindergarten through 3rd grade for contiguous counties [i.e., Lapeer County (northeast), Genesee County (northwest), Macomb County (east), Wayne County (southeast), Washtenaw County (southwest) and Livingston County (west)] for the 2023-24 school year. The application period is April 24, 2023 - August 26, 2023. The application will be available by following a link listed below beginning April 24, 2023. Completed applications must be returned to the pupil registration office via email at student.registration@southfieldk12.org by 4 p.m., August 26, 2023.
Kindergarten – 9th Grade (Oakland County)
The Southfield Public Schools Board of Education has approved unlimited Schools of Choice (Section 105) openings in kindergarten through 9th grade for Oakland County residents for the 2023-24 school year. The application period is April 24, 2023 - August 26, 2023. The application will be available by following a link listed below beginning April 24, 2023. Completed applications must be returned to the pupil registration office via email at student.registration@southfieldk12.org by 4 p.m., August 26, 2023
Online Enrollment
1. Complete the online application.
- Student name must be the same as birth certificate
- Do not type everything in BOLD
- Remember to Capitalize Names, example Jane Doe
- Parent/Guardian remember to add your phone number when inputting your contact info
2. Bring all of the following documents to the pupil accounting office.
- Current Immunization Records
- Birth Certificate or Green Card/Passport
- Court Ordered Documents (if applicable)
- Latest Report Card / Unofficial Transcript
- Disciplinary Behavior Report
Attention Parents Enrolling for Kindergarten - Kindergarten students MUST be five on or before September 1, 2023.
If your child will be five by September 1, 2023, you may CHOOSE to enroll your child into kindergarten.

Select Start a New Pre-Enrollment when starting your first enrollment. You will be required to create an account using an email address and creating a password.
Select Continue a Pre-Enrollment in Progress to return to a started enrollment or to add another student.
PLEASE NOTE: Select the grade that your child will begin in September, not the current grade.
Completing the on-line registration form does not automatically enroll your child into school.
